Undergraduate Student Services

The School of Library & Information Studies is pleased to offer its undergraduate students the services of a full-time professional undergraduate program advisor, and the assistance of a group of dedicated peer advisors. Undergraduate Student Services professionals are your primary point of administrative contact. Some of the tasks performed include:

Peer Advisors

Peer Advisors are students in the Information Technology program that have completed at least 15 credit hours of the major coursework. Some of the tasks performed by Peer Advisors are:

  • Serve as approachable intermediaries between students and professional advisors
  • Share experiences they have had with courses and faculty
  • Help students adjust to campus life
  • Meet with prospective students
  • Give tours of the School of Library & Information Studies
  • Advise peers on course selection

Faculty Advisors

Faculty Advisors are professors in the School of Library & Information Studies. Some of the tasks they perform are:

  • Advise on choice of concentration
  • Advise on career options
  • Assist with professional development
  • Serve as role models
  • Provide a human face for the University and the field
